Device password and passkeys

A device password now replaces the recovery phrase. You set one when you set up your Otto, and the app asks you to set one if your Otto doesn't have it yet. When none of your other devices is around to approve a new phone or computer, the password lets it in. Where your device supports passkeys, you can use one instead of typing the password. Security in Settings shows your ways back in and which passkeys can open your Otto, and you get a notice whenever a device gets in this way.

• The Network page shows your Otto's path to the internet, with its local and public IP addresses. Connection reliability and the speed test moved there from About.
• See what changed in each update from the version row in Settings.
• When the Terms or Privacy Policy change, the app asks you to review and accept them.

Improved

• A phone or computer waiting for access shows in your device list with an Approve button. Your app's safety number moved to Account.
• On a poor connection, the chat shows that it's reconnecting, and messages that didn't go out can be resent.
• The app asks for notification permission only when you turn notifications on.
• The Windows app is now signed by us, so Windows can tell where it came from.
• Updates are more dependable on slow connections.

Fixed

• Files and screenshots Otto sends you open and download reliably, and pictures show in the chat instead of as empty frames.
• The Windows app keeps you signed in, and keeps its access to your Otto, after a restart or an update.
• Bluetooth setup works in the desktop app on Windows, Linux and Intel Macs.
• Icons show up in the Windows app again after an update.
• The Android app finds your Otto on your home network during setup, as iPhone and the desktop app already did.
• On Android phones set to light mode, the app no longer shows light backgrounds against its dark design.

New

A Main conversation for each agent

Each agent now has one Main conversation for its ongoing work, and new automations report there by default. When you set up an automation, you can send it to a conversation of its own instead, and choose how much of the existing context it starts with. Background work is folded under a line you can expand, and you can compact a long Main conversation from the chat header.

• Approvals & safety lists every "Always allow" you've given, and you can take any of them back. The button now says exactly what it will allow, and Otto may ask again for a few things you allowed before.
• In the desktop app, press Enter to allow a paused action once, or Escape to deny it.
• Join our Discord from the link above your account, in the sidebar or menu.

• Setting up a new Otto is more reliable, and messages you send while it finishes go out once it's ready.
• Wi-Fi setup and Wi-Fi settings share one design that shows signal strength and marks open networks.
• Each account you connect gets its own row in Integrations, and you can connect another from Available.
• Models that providers retire are removed from the model picker.
• Your Otto downloads updates faster, especially outside the US.
• The desktop app takes small updates without a full reinstall, and open apps look for an update as soon as one is out. On your phone, choosing Later installs an update the next time the app is in the background.
• A short connection blip no longer puts a warning in the chat, and your Otto stays online while we update our servers.
• Your account and billing pages on the web were redesigned.

New

• Add your own MCP server from Integrations, next to your own APIs. You can now edit or remove an API you added.
• When your balance runs out mid-chat, add credits from a sheet over the conversation. The chat carries on once they land.
• Archive or delete a chat from the desktop sidebar or the chat header on your phone. Archived chats are under Memory in Settings.
• In the desktop app, drag files onto the chat to attach them, and switch models from a quick menu on the model button.
• Your phone offers to relaunch as soon as an update has downloaded.

Improved

• Integrations has Available and Connected tabs. Available starts with suggestions, and search covers everything you can connect.
• Settings is regrouped so your Otto, its agents and your account each have their own place.
• Usage charts show 10-minute detail for a day and hourly detail for a week, and each limit shows your spending against it.
• Google Calendar asks for narrower permissions, and chat shows each Google account by its name. Reconnect an account to switch it over.

Fixed

• Long answers no longer stop after about 30 seconds.
• Renaming or deleting an agent now shows everywhere at once, and a deleted agent stays deleted.
• A phone or computer you already approved no longer sets off a "new device wants access" alert.

New

• Set up your Otto from your phone or computer over Bluetooth, and connect it to your Wi-Fi as part of setup.
• Chat with Otto in the apps for iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows and Linux. Replies stream in as Otto works, and you can send it photos, files and PDFs.
• Your chats are end-to-end encrypted between your apps and your Otto. A new phone or computer has to be let in before it can read them.
• Make more than one agent, each with its own chats and instructions.
• Connect your apps, including email, calendar, GitHub and hundreds more, so Otto can work in them. You can add your own API too, and its key stays on your Otto.
• Otto asks before actions that change things, like sending an email. Allow it once, or always.
• Automations run a task on a schedule and report back in chat. Otto notifies you when it needs an answer.
• Otto can search the web and use its own browser, and you can teach it a repeatable task with a skill.
• Choose the model for each chat, and how much it thinks before answering.
• Pay for Otto's AI use from a prepaid balance, or bring your own AI provider keys on a monthly plan. The Usage page shows your spending and lets you set limits.
• Otto keeps itself up to date in the background.
