Devices
Add another Otto and switch between devices
Manage more than one Otto from the same account when you need a separate physical location, network, capacity, or data boundary. Use Devices to add a device and choose which Otto you are working with before you open its agents, connections, files, or activity.
Before you begin
- Finish setup for the Otto you are adding, including pairing it to your Otto account and connecting it to the internet. See Set up your Otto.
- Have the new Otto powered on and nearby during pairing. If you use Bluetooth for setup, turn on Bluetooth on the phone or computer you are pairing with.
- Decide which work belongs on the new device. Agents, connected apps, files, browser sessions, and activity stay with the Otto where they were created; adding a device does not copy them.
If you only need a second role or workflow, keep one Otto and create another focused agent instead. See Build an agent team on one Otto.
Add a device
- Open the Otto app and select Devices.
- Choose the option to add a device, then follow the pairing flow shown in the app.
- Select the new Otto when it appears. If it does not appear, make sure it is powered on, wait for it to finish starting, and check that your phone is on the same local network when the setup flow requires it.
- Finish the network and account steps. Keep the Otto powered and connected while it completes setup or an available software update.
- Return to Devices and confirm that the new Otto appears and is online.
Give each device a clear name based on its location or purpose. That makes it easier to select the right device before you create work or investigate a run.
Switch to a device
- Open Devices.
- Select the Otto you want to use.
- Confirm that its name and online status are shown before continuing.
- Open the agent, connection, automation, file, or activity area you want to work with.
The selected Otto is the scope for the work you open from there. Before you create an agent, connect an app, change an automation, or inspect activity, check that you selected the intended device.
Switching devices does not move or duplicate anything. An agent created on one Otto remains there, and a connection authorized for one Otto is not automatically available on another.
What happens next
Each Otto operates as its own workspace for local state and device access. You can use the same account to manage the devices, but treat them as separate when deciding:
- Which agents and automations should run there.
- Which apps and accounts should be connected.
- Which files and browser sessions should be available.
- Which activity and run history you need to review.
A device must be online to start fresh agent or automation work and deliver new results. If the device you selected is offline, check its power and network connection and wait for Devices to update before recreating work. See Troubleshooting.
Common questions
Can I move an agent or connection to another Otto?
No. Switching devices changes what you are viewing; it does not transfer an agent, automation, file, connected account, browser session, or activity. Recreate the work on the other Otto only after deciding what access and files it should have.
Should I add another Otto for every new task?
Usually not. One Otto can run several focused agents. Add another device when the device itself needs to be separate—for example, because of location, network, capacity, or a meaningful separation of work and data. When to add another Otto explains the tradeoff.
I cannot find the device I want
Open Devices and check that you are signed in to the account that owns it. If it was just powered on or paired, wait for startup and refresh the device list. For a device that remains unavailable, check Contact support and check service status and include the device name and displayed error. Never send a password, recovery code, API key, or other credential.
