Devices
Keep your Otto ready for work
Your Otto is the always-on computer where your agents, files, connected credentials, browser sessions, and automations live. Use Devices to check whether it is reachable, review its settings, and prepare it for software or ownership changes.
What this lets you do
- Confirm that Otto is online before you investigate an agent or automation.
- Review the device's network, software, security, remote-access, and account settings.
- Install available software updates so Otto receives reliability and security fixes.
- Remove Otto from your account and erase its local state before another person takes ownership.
Check whether Otto is ready
- Open the navigation menu and select Devices.
- Select the Otto you want to inspect if you have more than one.
- Check its online status. An offline Otto cannot start new agent or automation work, and it cannot deliver fresh results until it reconnects.
- If work is not responding, check the device connection before recreating the agent, connection, or automation. See Troubleshooting for the next checks.
A device can be online while a particular app connection, approval, or run has an issue. Use the relevant agent or automation history after you confirm the device is reachable; device status alone does not explain every failed task.
Review device settings and updates
From the selected Otto's device settings, review the sections for:
- Network — confirm that Otto can reach the internet and remain available.
- Software — check the installed version and whether an update is offered.
- Security — review the device's security controls.
- Remote access — review how you reach Otto remotely.
- Account — confirm which account owns the device.
When an update is available, install it from the device settings when you can keep Otto available for the update. Plan around active work: an update or restart can temporarily interrupt new runs, and an offline period prevents fresh results from being delivered. Afterward, return to Devices and confirm that Otto is online again.
Change or transfer ownership safely
Treat ownership changes as a handoff, not as a routine device switch. Before you remove Otto:
- Save or copy any results another person will need.
- Review active agents, automations, connected apps, and files. Stop or retarget work that should not continue under the new owner.
- Disconnect accounts and remove access that should not transfer. A connected app is a separate access path; changing an agent or approval setting does not revoke it.
- In the device settings, choose the option to remove, wipe, or unpair Otto from your account and follow the confirmation steps.
- Do not hand over the device until the reset or removal has completed. The next owner should pair and set up Otto with their own account.
Wiping or unpairing is the right boundary for removing your local files, credentials, agent state, and device access. If you only switch to another Otto, nothing moves between devices: each one keeps its own agents, files, connections, and activity. See Add and switch devices for that workflow.
If Otto is offline or unavailable
- Check power and the network connection, then return to Devices and wait for the status to update.
- Avoid changing several settings or creating replacement automations while the device is unreachable; first confirm whether existing work resumes when Otto comes back online.
- If the device remains unavailable, check Contact support and check service status and include the device name, what you were trying to do, and any displayed error. Never include a password, recovery code, or other credential in a support request.
